The Best of MAN May 27, 2012
If we are ever MIA, AWOL or simply NTBF (Not To Be Found), look for us in Ravenna. This charming Italian city both cherishes the Byzantine mosaics for which it is world famous and challenges the entrenched assumptions of what mosaic should be. This combination of respect and exploration sings to our mosaic-loving heart and MAN is fortunate to have a number of friends in Ravenna who keep us up to date on the exhibitions and events happening there.
This week’s Featured Articles are great examples of the cutting-edge thinking going on in Ravenna. We are excited to introduce the incomparable Pascale Beauchamps to MAN readers this week through her current exhibit Movimento Immobile at the Cripta Rasponi. Last October we were lucky enough to be in Ravenna for the biennial festival RavennaMosaico. Our second Featured Article is an overview of that incredible experience and our third focuses on the results of the Young Artists and Mosaic (GAEM) exhibit.
Now, put something wonderful on the stereo/boom box/mp3 and enjoy innovation in mosaic. – Nancie
