News Flash: Unplanned Excavation Uncovers Roman Mosaic in Massachusetts

On 15, Sep 2009 | One Comment | In Uncategorized | By man-admin

An unplanned excavation (read “pot hole”) on Dale Street in Gloucester, Massachusetts has uncovered what appears to be part of an ancient Roman mosaic.

Residents are amazed and delighted at the find. “I always knew there was something special underneath the surface of Gloucester,” said one resident. “Wish they’da left us one of those aqueducts, too,” said another.

The use of the classic ‘guilloche’ border pattern dates the mosaic at approximately 5th century AD. However, important questions still remain.

Was the Roman Empire actually even greater than was previously thought? Will more ancient mosaics appear in unlikely places on the North American continent? Stay tuned.  If they do, MAN will be there!

Enjoy — Nancie
